Grow a Garden 2 Mutations

Compare 13 documented mutation multipliers, where they come from, and the lower effective multiplier used by single-harvest crops. Match environmental mutations to the weather event list.

Checked against the current mutation reference.

One mutation per crop

A crop can carry exactly one mutation at a time. Multipliers do not stack. On a single-harvest crop, only 15% of the bonus above 1x is applied.

Event-linked mutations require their matching weather. The source's generic chance columns conflict with its “Can Get on Growth?” flags; those flagged No are shown as “Not during growth.” Amber and pet-triggered mutations use the specific obtainment rules.

How mutation multipliers work

Mutation is one part of the sell-price formula. The game first scales the crop’s base value by physical size, then applies the mutation multiplier, decay penalty and friend bonus. A 30x Rainbow does not automatically mean two Rainbow effects can be stacked; the current system stores one mutation on each crop.

Why single-harvest crops show a second multiplier

Carrot, Bamboo, Mushroom, Rocket Pop and Tulip are harvested with the whole plant. Current mechanics reduce their mutation bonus using 1 + (raw multiplier − 1) × 0.15. For example, Gold’s raw 10x becomes 2.35x on a single-harvest crop. The fruit calculator applies this automatically.

Which mutation has the highest multiplier?

Glow is highest at 100x in the checked mutation reference. Eclipsed is 80x and is linked to Eclipse weather; Glow comes from Star Fruit. KG, harvest type and obtainment method still determine which result is possible and valuable in your garden.

Gold vs. Rainbow on a single-harvest crop

Gold's 10x becomes 2.35x and Rainbow's 30x becomes 5.35x after the single-harvest adjustment. The same rule applies to Maple Carrot, Maple Tulip and Maple Mushroom. Compare crop types on the crop value list before choosing a mutation target; the displayed raw multiplier alone can overstate the result.

Are Rainbow pets and Rainbow fruit the same value?

A fruit mutation changes a crop's sell formula. A pet's Rainbow variant has its own gameplay effect and community trade quote. Use the pet ability reference and variant value guide for pets, rather than applying the 30x fruit multiplier to a trade offer.

Source and update warning
